Mission
To ignite in our students an innovative spirit and nurture creative thinking that allows them to meet the demand of a challenging global economy.

Vision
We learn, we innovate, we progress.

Motto
Seeking possibilities and creating opportunities for our learners.

Craft and Technology Programmes

Through Craft & Technology education in YI, we want to nurture the critical thinking skills and to develop the spirit of creative intervention to improve the quality of life for our pupils. Students will become discriminating and empowered to be innovators of tomorrow while having fun in YI.

We would also be exploring accelerated learning whereby coursework processes and design methodology would be simplified and taught early at lower secondary; nurturing designerly ways of thinking among our pupils.

In our effort to make learning of C&T relevant and engaging for our students in YI, the C&T department has designed programmes where learning is fun, meaningful and comes ALIVE!.
Our key programmes provide all Yusoffians to enjoy and acquire a set of essential life-long skills with practical-based, experiential learning and leveraging on IT so that all students become responsible independent future problem solvers.

A one-year programme was introduced last year for DT/FN and Visual Art/Digital Art. This arrangement provided greater flexibility to plan a more structured learning for our students. This new approach also allows us to conduct lessons that were close to the upper sec requirement – i.e, journals for coursework in a smaller scale. It involves more personal and technological design to get the lower sec pupils interested in product design study.

The C&T department consists of teachers trained in their areas of expertise and they are full-time in the teaching of the Craft & Tech subjects of Art, Design & Tech, Home Economics and Music. These subjects are heavy in coursework production and great emphasis had been placed in teaching our students good organizational and planning skills.

Art

Introduction
The Art Department handles both the lower and upper secondary levels art programmes and is responsible to prepare the learners in both N and O Levels art coursework every year.

For lower secondary students, lessons on visual Arts stress and emphasized on the basic elements of design and basic principals of art. Lessons based on these concepts are customised to suit majority of the learners’ ability and level of understanding. Study of Visual Art (SOVA) lessons will be incorporated in as appropriation in relation to the elements and principles taught.

At upper secondary level, with a strong foundation in technical skills and art appreciation, students are more well prepared to handle the challenging art coursework at a more cognitively advanced level in terms of ideas and conceptualisation. The students are given opportunities to explore a variety of media, such as painting, papercut, art installation, sculptures, mixed media. Learning journeys to Singapore biennales, art institutions and museums are organised to enhance their learning experience. Collaboration with external partners such as overseas art learning journeys in Hong Kong were organised to expose our graduating studies to the international art circle.

Objective
