The Science Department aims to instill a sense of curiosity and passion in our students towards scientific knowledge through an inquiry teaching and learning approach. Our mission is to nurture self-directed learners who not only strive for academic excellence, but also understands the relevance of science in their daily lives.
Engaging Our Learners Beyond the Classroom
In order to expose our students to the diverse applications of Science beyond the classroom, the department organised various enrichment activities that complemented the curriculum. They serve to intrigue our young minds and expose them to unlimited career possibilities ahead. We collaborated with Ngee Ann Polytechnic for the Microbiology Advanced Elective Module. Students also participated at the National Science Challenge, NUS Physics Camp and Biotech Fair competition.
As part of our continual drive towards curriculum innovation and improvement, the lower secondary program has been revised to enhance our ‘homeroom’ classroom system and encourage more creativity in learning activities. Students go through modules in Physics, Chemisty and Biology with the teachers of the respective disciplines. This is to better align the differentiated needs of the students and demands of the upper secondary Science syllabus. Project work and hands-on practical activities are encouraged to expose our students early to the alternative modes of assessments used in post secondary education.
