2009 was indeed a challenging year. Families were affected by the Economic Crisis and needed financial support from school. H1N1 disrupted curriculum in more than one way. We received very good support from teachers, students and parents and we were able to adjust and adapt well to the changing needs. We are most thankful to our stakeholders in education for the cooperation they have rendered to the school.
Our active participation proved to be an invaluable experience for both our teachers and students. We did well in SYF in 2009 winning three Silvers and a Bronze Award in 2009 and attained ‘Sustained Achievements’ for UG and Sports. Our students were active in community involvement through student initiated service learning projects and community-linked social entrepreneurship. Academic performances at the different levels and courses have continually been improving and students were more committed to achieve excellence. Indeed, we are proud that our students have truly lived to our vision of Yusoffians as “Scholars, Sportsmen and Statesmen”. We thus look forward to greater heights of achievement in 2010 including our involvement in the YOG.
I wish to thank our parents for their support.
The school is committed to the pursuit of excellence. We shall abide by our corporate values of C.A.R.E (Courtesy, Accessibility, Responsiveness, Effectiveness) as a service standard and embrace creativity and empower innovation as ways to improve teaching and learning capacity. We are pleased that the school has little communities of learners whose work have been shared locally and internationally. With good synergy and support from staff and stakeholders in education I am confident that Yusof Ishak Secondary School, The First President School, shall continue to do well in the years ahead.
