YI Performing Arts Program (PAP)

The PAP comprises Band, Choir and Drama which are offered to all students in the lower secondary level.

The program also serves as a supporting role to the other segment of the Arts and Aesthetics Program – Performing Arts CCA. The CCAs provide yet another platform for the students to gain more performing opportunities and exposure.

All Sec 1 and 2 students will undergo auditions to stream them into the respective segments according to their talents. Every week, they will go through a 2-hour training with professional coaches, who are hired especially to train them.

Curriculum

The program is held in the school during school hours, on every Tuesday and Thursday. By the end of the year, the selected students will have gone through a carefully crafted curriculum by professional instructors to help them further explore their talents in the specific field. Professional instructors are hired to mentor and guide the students during the program.

Outcome

The Aesthetic Choir members will take part in the 2009 SYF Choral Singing Competition, together with the School Choir (CCA). In addition, they will also participate in the school events and functions, such as Annual Awards Celebration and Innovation Day, and a community singing on the National Day Celebration.

 The Aesthetic Band members will join the School NPCC Band to compete in the SYF competitions as well as other school events and functions, such as the Annual Awards Celebration and Innovation Day.

The Aesthetic Drama members will stage a school performance at the end of the year.
